Is anyone here running a small team of consultants or is everyone solo?

Awesome - how do you manage clients that want your team to live in their domain?

i.e. a few clients want us to use their email address, their JIRA, their slack etc.

It's obviously preferable for my team to have everything consolidated but I'm finding it a challenge to get clients to agree to use our platforms.

To give some context, we're a small team that provide NetSuite support and optimisation services. We're typically retained by clients for a few months to a few years.

Hey <@UFAHSLYJ1> great question. We are similar but haven’t had any clients ask us to use their email or jira. We use slack and connect with “Slack Connect”. Using their email is a little interesting especially if you’re only having for a few months. I usually tell our clients to use a specific email(s) for logging into NetSuite and that’s good for them. Using their Jira kind of makes sense since that’s where they’re going to track projects, etc. All this would make sense if they’re trying to be very secure and only their email address’ can access their systems. I guess if that’s the case, I would just build in extra time for your team to have to switch around to use their systems.

<@UFAHSLYJ1> what’s the reason companies have given you when they want you to use their email address’? I get Jira. Slack is also interesting since you can connect two slacks together.

Usually it's because of IT policy.

I know nobody forces ACS to do this, we want the same privilege :slightly_smiling_face:

Now I'm jumping between multiple JIRA, teams, slack, calendars etc to keep up.

Makes it very hard to coordinate the day/week without undetected clashes, missed deadlines etc.

Makes sense. That’s tough. I’ll have to think on that one. IT policy makes sense.

I work with a small team of consultants, and we also try to push them more towards using our Jira instance. We set up a 'personal' distribution list email for them to use to communicate and connect our slack accounts where needed.

That being said i do have one single customer who was insistent on me using their domain. That was just because of access to netsuite though. They use Okta to assign access, so i had to be on their domain to be able to use it.

Publicly traded company, so they are a little more cautious

I'm going through a large shift now where retainer based contracts that are worked on by my team are starting to outnumber the contracts that I work on as a independent consultant. Have you gone through a similar journey?
