Hello All, we created assembly items recently and checked the special work order item checkbox and noticed that even though the inventory is available for the location the qty is not committed, I believe the system is expecting for the work order to be built? Is there a way for the system to allocate available inventory , if not then wait for assembly built to happen? if my ask is not possible, what other options i have to fix my orders as I don't see option to uncheck the required work order on sales order level

AI generated answer (using internal Slack threads):
Based on the conversations, it seems that the system is indeed expecting the work order to be built even if the inventory is available. This is because the 'Special Work Order' checkbox is checked. When this box is checked, NetSuite will create a new Work Order for that line on the Sales Order and that exact work order needs to be built in order for that line to be committed. Even if you do a standalone Work Order for a large quantity of that item, it will not commit until the linked Work Order is built. If you want the system to allocate available inventory, you can uncheck the 'Special Work Order' checkbox on the item record. This should allow the system to commit available inventory without having to create a work order. However, if you don't have the option to uncheck the 'Special Work Order' checkbox on the sales order level, you might need to do this on the item record level. If you are unable to uncheck the 'Special Work Order' checkbox, another option is to use a script to handle these scenarios. The script can check inventory levels of the items, and then perform the logic to create a Purchase Order/Work Order or use available inventory for the line. If you have already built the assembly and closed the special Sales Order, and now you cannot select the built assembly lot number in other Sales Orders, it's because the linked special Work Order means you can only use the inventory from that Work Order to fulfill that Sales Order. Your inventory is now stuck. The only way to fix is to delete assembly build and Work Order and recreate without the special Work Order link. If the period is already closed, you could try to do an inventory adjustment. Adjust out the inventory then adjust it back in using the same quantity, rate, inventory detail, and lot. It should be available then. ****** Disclaimer: This response was generated by an artificial intelligence assistant based on previous conversations from multiple Slack channels, and may contain inaccuracies or mistakes. ******
