Hi all! Question for the finance people here. Does anyone now why a journal entry remains on a customer's statement if it's showing only for open transactions?

I guess the AR line is on the debit side and you haven't applied that JE yet to any transaction where the AR line is on the credit side. So it remains open then.

To expand on this a bit: since NetSuite doesn't have a subledger, a debit to AR on a JE is considered an "invoice" and a credit is considered a "credit memo." They will work effectively like an invoice or CM transaction type in that they'll stay open until you apply something against them until the balance is down to zero. You can apply them basically like any other invoice or CM through accept customer payments or on the CM record itself. Because of the above, I'd be really careful about posting JEs to AR unless you absolutely have to and if you do, always use a customer record on that line or it will create a big mess. AP accounts work the same way.

Thank you for the info guys! it's helpful for sure.
Hi again @RJMNS! This issue has resurfaced and my explanation wasn't suffice. Can you take a look at the photo and let me know if this is incorrect? these are the lines on the said JE. This was essentially swapping between two customer accounts

Assuming that JE is approved, you should have an apply-able "invoice" to W029420 and an apply-able "credit" to 0100030 on the customer side. There's no netting or anything though so assuming 12410 is truly an AP account type like its name says, you'd also have a AP invoice/vendor bill on 0100030 & a AP Credit on W029420. Are you not seeing that? You should be able to see the AP stuff on Pay Bills.
