I've been going old school of late (yes I'm old), just bought a boxed GT3 limited edt PS2 this morning, circa 2001\02

meh, I started gaming on a VIC-20. Or a tandy business computer if you count that lol
d
Unfortunately I'm that old too 🙂 , Atari 2600 and C64 were my bag. In fact, I got a new power supply for the 2600 not so long back and it started right up! (my original for nearly 40 years ago). I still had the original power supply but decided not to risk it. Half of my carts are not working though 😞

I somewhat regret not keeping any of my old tech stuff. Same for all my original D&D stuff.
d
I didn't keep a lot of it, I'm actually re-collecting what I sold when I had no money.
s
I graduated from the VIC=20 to C64 - had several C64s; as a youngster I worked with a fellow that did Commodore repairs. While others were jumping to other platforms I stuck with it - graduating to C=128 then Amiga 500. I kinda miss the old days when computers had variety and competition.

Some fond memories of the 500
Was the daddy of its time
PS1 pretty much put an end to those all-in-ones for gaming
Still jaw dropping that most early games were completed by 1 person (gameplay logic, graphics, music etc) or 2 people if they had a big budget! ... and sometimes in a matter of weeks.
E.T. is probably the most famous on the 2600, the guy was given 5 weeks to develop it ready for Christmas
s
aye, I've seen documentaries on that E.T. fiasco.
I had a colecovision - though I was all that and a bag of chips when it played near-arcade quality donkey kong
