I currently have managed to keep it under 15% but my boss want me to take on a project which would bring it up to 40%
z
It really really depends on the client, the urgency and what it is for. It's also a balance. I am not of a fan of the "do it now and fix it later" mentality because it tends to take longer in the long run and you don't always get time to update it later.
a
I feel like maintaining a project doesn't teach me any useful skills.
z
It really doesn't. Some projects end up where you are fixing someone else's while all new dev work seems to be easier.
s
Do you have time to do it right or do it twice?

Inherited a large instance, so currently at 120%
a
Oh dear lord.
c
It's ok, I'm going to leave in the new year
Plenty of jobs out there

How much experience do you have if you don't mind me asking?
c
5 years NS, 20+ years of financial systems
a
That's impressive. I have 1.5 years. I'm waiting for the day that I can have enough experience to be able to leave a job just like that.
n
full-time or consulting @CD?
@Alan Fitch from your profile pic, I thought you were a senior guy who is about to retire soon.
c
Contracting
a
I'm 21. Probably the youngest guy here.
s
Maybe you have to be an older person to even recognize his profile pic? 🙂
a
I know him from The Blacklist. One of my favorite characters.
s
Alan Alda was on the Blacklist? I don't even remember him appearing
s
nice. I haven't watched season 9 - I tended to bing watch it on netflix when it comes out.
a
I wish I would have the self control. Waiting every week is painful.
s
I never watch shows with commercials or week long waits. Things are even worse these days where a season can take a break mid season for several months. NetFlix and other streaming services have changed the experience and I'm never going back.
n
@stalbert I didn't know the pic was of an actor. I just thought that's him 😄
s
perhaps he's an old soul? I hope he's not the chairman of the cabal
a
I'll get there eventually.
s
Are you watching season 9 then? How is life without agent Keene? I was getting tired of her shenanigans anyway but I know some people thought she was important.
a
Life without Keene is good. But Dembe became an FBI agent and its totally out of character.
s
wow
though he was always the good angel on Red's shoulder, no?
a
Trust me it's stupid and weird.
