It's gonna be a good day - PS5 is on the truck for delivery.
n
which games are you planning to play?
g
I got Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, as it looks amazing and apparently really showcases the speed of the HD. I'm going to revisit a few of my old PS4 games on it to see them running better (God of War, Last of Us Part II, Cyberpunk 2077, etc.)

Also, really looking forward to the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West. Horizon Zero Dawn was reeeeeeeaallllly awesome. Will probably replay that on the new hardware as well.

Here I am playing a super old MMO instead of my PS4 lol.
g
Ha! What game?
s
Where'd you find a PS5? I've been looking casually but always sold out.
g
I signed up for the chance to buy direct from Sony. Got an invite on Monday to get in a queue on Tuesday for the possibility to be able to buy one. Invite didn't guarantee getting one.
I only had to wait 10 minutes after the queue opened and I was able to get one.
s
Interesting. I signed up for that as well but have received no invites. I must not be cool enough.
g
I know they did one last week, and obviously this week...perhaps they'll do another one
Oh, apparently they are sending another round of invites out today for a chance tomorrow.
c
Get the game pass. Its about the only thing worth getting on PS5 right now

Also use "performance" mode rather than quality. FPS > minor graphics fidelity. I love the 120hz
g
I need to update my tv in order to get 120hz as mine doesn't have HDMI 2.1, but that's gonna happen soon.
But i'm also just happy to be able to see 60fps on a lot of things, lol
c
I got a 65" LG CX when I got picked up the consoles that does the dolby vision/atmos and 120hz. Its really affordable right now as well. Highly recommend if you're looking.

Some games do 4k 30fps for quality so its super noticeable and shitty. Some leave it at 4k 60fps and its way more playable.
k
I just can't justify that kind of expense for my crappy eyes
g
I've had my eye on the LG CX. I've had a Samsung, and tbh it's soured me to the brand.
Image quality is great on the one I have, but the software running it is HORRIBLE.
c
Yeah the CX was a huge upgrade for me. I doubt i'll buy another TV until this one explodes. I bought it refurbished from microcenter for like $1200 which was crazy good at the time.
g
Oh, that's a steal!
I wish there was a microcenter near me....closest one is like an hour+ away

They have the C1 (next step up) for $1800
I couldn't tell much of a difference between the C1 and CX to justify another 1k
I really just wanted the 120hz
btw god of war just got a 4k 60fps patch for PS5 too. I tried it out and it was nice

I might just have to take a trip to MC
z
Is the PS gamepass like the Xbox one?
s
are you referring to PS Now?
g
PS Now isn't nearly as robust as Xbox game pass, but it definitely has improved. For example, you can now download some of the offerings, where as it used to be game streaming only.
s
I find I only play downloadable games from PSNow
g
Streaming games just isn't quite there yet. Input lag, even if it's slight, is very frustrating.
s
agreed. Though I think Stadia does it better, I can't get excited about their model. I got the free Stadia hardware and tried it for a month. Now it collect dust.
c
PS Now is garbage compared to xbox game pass
There's some decent games on PS Now but its nowhere near what xbox is doing like day 1 games for $0 (Forza 5 for example)
Xbox just released the new halo multiplayer this week too
You can use a keyboard and mouse on both systems too. I suck w/ controller so if I just had my xbox, I used keyboard and mouse and its just like a PC.
s
Gaming on my XBone just wasn't as much fun as the PS4. I eventually gave away the xbox
z
I have a Series X and got the deal where you could upgrade Gold to GamePass Ultimate for $1 and I find myself playing games that I would have never played otherwise.
s
Yes, that's one cool thing about a subscription service.
