Im curious to see what the ACTUAL numbers are once this is "over". They count everything as a covid death whether it caused it or not
c
You know how death certificates work right?
c
yes but even if you die of a heart attack and you had covid, its still a covid death even though it didn't cause it. So the numbers are off.
Im not doubting anything or saying it isn't bad, I'm just curious what the final numbers are going to be. Probably less than whats stated by a bit.

So where do you get that idea from? I cant find anything to back that up. The numbers are changing and the data gets misrepresented but I still cant find a source for this one.
They are adjusting the graphs to be more accurate as they get more data
they even say so in their own key points and data analysis
Looks like they are doing some more data stuff now to split it out as of June 2020. They still say in their data its off "Estimated numbers of deaths due to these other causes of death could represent misclassified COVID-19 deaths, or potentially could be indirectly related to COVID-19 (e.g., deaths from other causes occurring in the context of health care shortages or overburdened health care systems). Deaths with an underlying cause of death of COVID-19 are not included in these estimates of deaths due to other causes, but deaths where COVID-19 appeared on the death certificate as a multiple cause of death may be included in the cause-specific estimates. For example, in some cases, COVID-19 may have contributed to the death, but the underlying cause of death was another cause, such as terminal cancer. For the majority of deaths where COVID-19 is reported on the death certificate (approximately 95%), COVID-19 is selected as the underlying cause of death."
So even if misrepresented, its a very small % of a small % of people. So maybe its not that far off.

I had thought you were following the garbage online where people say a guy dies in a motorcycle accident while suffering from Covid counts as a Covid death. I still havent found out how that one started.
c
noooo those are excluded.. its more of the complicated ones
physical injury related deaths are not included even if you had covid
that 2nd link outlines all the things that are included/excluded
Its an interesting read if you're curious. They do a really good job of breaking things down every week.

It will be hard to get exact numbers — I imagine years from now people who had COVID at some point may die from something else who wouldn’t have died if they never had COVID. It sounds like there are longer-reaching effects than initially assumed. Never going to be exact.
