I have an assembly item (not special work order item) which has two components. One component is stocked and one requires a purchase order. If I sell this in-stock assembly on a Sales Order... a work order is not created BUT NetSuite is generating a Purchase Order for its component. This is standard NetSuite behavior?

Is the WO in Released status?
m
There is no WO.
Typically you generate a WO, then a PO generates off that. In this scenario, I simply sell the assembly.... no work order is created (because its stocked and not a special work order item)... but netsuite still generates its component PO.
The sales order doesn't reference the PO at all... but the PO that is generated does reference the SO.
m
that is weird. In my experience that is NOT standard behaviour. Worth a support ticket to NS.

Is the Assembly actually a Kit Item?
m
@AI1 no, it is not.
a
Oh okay. Yeah that is super weird behavior
m
Right? Was so confused the first time I saw it... and even more confused when I could immediately duplicate the issue.

Isnt it the behavior of a dropship item?
m
Sorta not really. I did find out the reason. Since 2021.2 this scenario will generate a PO, although i find it ridiculously crazy if a work order is not created.
l
So it requires a PO because is Back Ordered?
