My friends: what can explain how all of a sudden the current number for auto-generated invoices, has jumped by thousands? Let's say the latest INV in teh system are INV001891,INV001892.. and all of a sudden, the current number becomes INV187872? I've searched our database, there is no Invoice with INV number preceding this so how can it have jumped to that.

@mari Has anyone updated the initial document number on your subsidiary record?

I don't think so. the initial number is set at 0 and i am the only one that has admin privilegies in our system

2 ways I’ve seen this happen: -External system providing the documents had it’s numbering changed. -Your document number field is editable, and a user manually entered a number that caused the gap. This will cause the autogeneration to move to the next number after what the user manually entered.

If one would re-edit the transaction, shouldn't the autogeneration "current number" reverse? It would be stupid if a mistake or typo would irreversibly change the Next invoice order
