Can anyone think of a case where a chart is better than a table for displaying data?
s
depends on the type of data, but pie charts are ideal for visualizing percentages. line or bar charts are good for visualizing trends (changes over time)

When CXOs are too lazy to actually read and interpret the data? 😆

Good point.
@scottvonduhn But you can have a table with the percentages just fine.

I like showing frequency distributions graphed as a bell curve for sensor data. Could show it in a table, though i find it easier to talk to a graph

Looks like it is all about visualizations being easier and more engaging.

Lots of times visual representations are better for data than just raw values.
I suggest reading through Edward Tufte’s books for good examples.
classic example:

or just /r/dataisbeautiful (sort by top of all time, as there’s a lot of rubbish that is neither good data nor good visualisations posted more recently)
I use sankeys now and then to show “where did the money go” to interested parties
