the only people I've ever heard of not paying their medical bills are doing so when the cost is 20-300k+, so I think it's a little unfair to suggest that's the "reason" that healthcare costs are so high (research seems to back me up on this - most recent studies are saying the main reason healthcare costs are so high is that... things cost a lot)
