How can I export a saved report to excel while also determining which lines are part of which section

AI generated answer (using internal Slack threads):
To export a saved report to Excel while also determining which lines are part of which section, you can follow these steps: 1. Run the saved search in NetSuite. 2. Click on the 'Export' option and select 'Excel (xls)'. 3. Open the exported file in Excel. However, it's important to note that the exported Excel file will not include the title, date range, or any filters applied in the saved search. Also, any highlighting or bolding of specific rows in the saved search will not be retained in the exported Excel file. This is a limitation of the export functionality in NetSuite. If you need to include the title, date range, or filters in the Excel file, you may need to manually add them after exporting the file. Similarly, if you need to retain the highlighting or bolding of specific rows, you may need to manually apply them in the Excel file after exporting. ****** Disclaimer: This response was generated by an artificial intelligence assistant based on previous conversations from multiple Slack channels, and may contain inaccuracies or mistakes. ******

@Usman Bako also consider something like CloudExtend ExtendInsights which allows you to run saved searhces directly into Excel where you can then use the power of Excel to consolidate ad format your data as desired. A little work up front but once you set it up you can refresh with 1 click (or on a schedule) and your formatted reports will also update. Here's an example of a way to recreate an income statement and format it as desired.

@Chris Corcoran oh this is wonderful. Does it only work with saved searches? the primary use is for a saved report but just wanted to make sure.

@Usman Bako unfortunately the API does not support reports. Boy I wish it did. If you're not accessing financial data you could use Excel Web Query for free, but if it's financials you are looking for it won't work. Most reports can be converted to saved searches. You can even search NetSuite's support center and you will see plenty of examples.
