Need an opinion. I started a new job. I'm the first developer in the history of the company. They are using Celigo everywhere. When "anything" happen, they call Celigo. They are using Shopify and Celigo to bring the orders in Netsuite. Using Suitescript, I know how to connect to Shopify and create the Orders in Netsuite, as well as updating the tracking number and inventory. I'm thinking, like a developer.... I'm seeing a lot of benefits with SuiteScript. Am I wrong ?

Curious what the potential benefits are that you're seeing? Concurrency? I'm sure you could write code that does the same thing, but if you do that and there's no one else at your company that understands it (and you're not planning on hiring more devs soon), you're on the hook. Sitting on the beach on PTO and something breaks your code? You're getting a phone call instead of Celigo support. The advantage of Celigo (and any other middleware) is that non-technical users can do stuff with it. Personally, I'd wait for something like this until you have at least one backup. Assuming Celigo is working ok, which it seems like it is, I think the potential benefits versus the potential headaches for you aren't worth it until you build out the team a bit.

Potentially different answer if Celigo is breaking constantly, is super slow to the point it's adversely affecting business processes, etc. I'd still start with leaning on Celigo to fix that stuff versus going straight to scripting it.

I like your comments (very much) and that's the reason I'm hesitant. I join then 2 months ago. They've been having issues with some sales orders. they've been talking to Celigo for over 3 months with no solutions. I found the problem but because Celigo wrote the code, only them can change it. If the code would be in Suitescript, I would have fixed it right away. And in the situation that I'm not there, any Netsuite developers could look at the code and fix it. Again, I'm hesitant for the reason you mentioned Thanks

any Netsuite developers
Where would these NS devs be coming from if you're the only Dev in your company? NS Support for Suitescript only covers errors, malfunctions, and such I think. They won't delve into a business case. If you have external independent consultants or something that are devs and could look at the code, then maybe. The short answer is that it seems like this would be introducing a single point of failure (you), which I definitely try to avoid.

Also happens with external consultancy and the Oracle advanced support. If you a are a developer and know your way around SuiteScript you get annoyed at the time it takes them to fix a simple bug or make and enhancement, even accounting for tests and documentation. The "right away" in-house solution can be days instead of weeks. But again, the third party support is there for that, for support.

Hey Simon - was in here researching a different Netsuite topic around everyone’s favorite (cash sales records) but Blue Onion helps automate a lot with Shopify/Celigo flows specifically
