Is there a way to correct Average Costing for an Item?
a
Usually via inventory adjustments.
d
Thanks. Do you mean using the estimated cost field in IA?
a
yes
If you adjust it negatively it will come out at its current average cost, so in theory that should bring current value/cost to zero (if you take out the total inventory quantity at a location). But when you adjust it back in you can specify the new cost. I typically recommend doing the move-out IA first and separately (and on a different posting date) than the move-back-in IA, to keep things clean.

Elaborate please
Hi @al3xicon , I'm trying to adjust underwater stock for inventory items so practically I'm adjust positively to offset the negative inventory. The average cost for the item is not corrected! We are not purchasing these items but still used as a component of kit packages to calculate cost based on their average Cost , however, system is not calculating average cost correct. I did IAs to offset negative inventory with no luck for changing the item average cost!
a
so you were underwater and you brought it back to 0?
d
Physically no purchase, underwater inventory is due to kit sales in locations
a
also depending on your system settings, average cost on the item record is not necessarily updated immediately after saving transactions - check your inventory costing preferences page
d
These locations have no stock to consume as the service is basically done in main location however revenue is recognized in other locations
I have set average cost in inventory preferences to calculate hourly
