CLI for Node.js Installation Prerequisites

Verify the following prerequisites before you install SuiteCloud CLI for Node.js:

Java SE Development Kit — CLI for Node.js requires Oracle JDK version 11.

I'm wanting to start using WebStorm to debug my SuiteScripts. I believe that this is a requirement to do so, but my question is do I specifically need JDK Version 11? I learned to code by using SuiteScript and I am still inexperienced in these more traditional development tools. Any and all advise would be greatly appreciated.
