my recommendation is to always to at least try a library first

in this case i say <https://pypi.org/project/oauthlib/|oauthlib>, specifically <https://github.com/requests/requests-oauthlib|requests-oauthlib> if you want something quick

it looks reasonably well maintained and supports HMAC-SHA256
