Tried to install SuiteCloud IDE for Eclipse only to be told it will be deprecated as of 2022.1. What is the intended replacement? WebStorm only? Seems annoying there's no free alternative for people who only need to do light work.

@J-Mack have you tried Visual Studio Code? This is what i currently use

I'm also using VSCode with the node suitecloud-cli

I have not tried it, but I can.

i vote use the cli
and use whatever development environment you want

The official VS Code extension is on sneak peaks as part of 2021.2 release

I vote for webstorm, because the price is trivial for anyone working in this space in a non-slavery capacity.
If webstorm saves your company even 1 hour per year/user then it's more than paid for itself.

I don't know if it would, @stalbert. I'm not a developer, but occasionally, I need to copy and paste some code from SuiteAnswers.
@michoel That's wonderful! My husband won't stop talking about how great VS is. 🙂

If your company can afford NetSuite licensing fees but can't afford $100 for webstorm I don't know what else to say. That said, if I had to use something free it would be VSCode.
j
@stalbert Obviously, it can, but I don't like wasting resources like that. In my head, it's like buying a nice set of power tools for a summer intern who needs to occasionally tighten a screw. A screwdriver would suffice. We have contractors who do our big lift development. I'm just an admin who would like something better than NotePad. Eclipse and VS are free, so they feel more appropriate to me. I guess for me that's pragmatism on my part. Has nothing to do with company policy.

well if choosing stricly between Eclipse and VSCode, I highly recommend VSCode 🙂

I actually prefer VSCode to Webstorm if that makes you feel better
