Has anyone used strongpoint or something similar for environment comparison? If so, care to share your thoughts on the product - good or bad?

I've heard good things about strongpoint, except its cost 🙂 that said, SDF can be a good resource for some of the same 'environment comparison' functionality, with the addition of easily capturing and diffing using traditional dev tooling (e.g. your version control system)

Oh, ok - ty for taking the time to share your feedback!

I have been impressed with Strongpoint. We have it where I work. The data model covers many things that are notoriously difficult to compare. It gives you very powerful search capabilities directly in NetSuite. You can search customizations by scriptid, find references to things in scripts and workflows, etc. Many things Strongpoint does that one could also do by bringing all the customizations into an SDF project and executing full-text searches. I do that all the time--nothing beats a directory search with the scalpel-precision of a good regular expression. Having said that, doing what it takes to get there, not to mention writing regular expressions—that might be a bit much for most people to tackle! Strongpoint gives you a MUCH easier way to achieve that level of control and searchability, and Strongpoint exposes a bunch of dependencies and objects that are invisible to SDF (e.g., the "guts" of your saved searches). As a developer, I will say that the Strongpoint Change Requests can be a bit annoying at present, if you work with both SDF and Strongpoint CRs, because you end up having to "restate" your deploy.xml in your CR. I actually got to meet with their dev team and emailed them about my concerns in that regard, and they are receptive to making it more and more "SDF friendly." Nico, the CTO, is a dyed-in-the-wool developer, and I have good reason to believe that their team wants to the tool to be as friendly as possible to non-coders and coders alike. There are many other features. The things I mentioned reflect what I've needed/used.
