Speaking of strongpoint... how does one start a fresh process? I'm new to the company I'm working at and they have not used it for 2 years. I know this is the wrong channel for this convo but I'm curious
n
What do you mean by "fresh process"? Do you mean refresh all of the Strongpoint data for every customization in the environment?
j
yes and no, in some way I want to start using all the change management policies and features they offer. They have 3 yrs worth of non-compliant stuff
how do you bring it back from the dead and clean up house pretty much?
n
So, strictly just my opinion, but the best initial step is to just clean house and clear the entire backlog of anything that's say more than a month old
for noncompliant changes
Now, Strongpoint, at least when I last used it ~1.5 years ago, doesn't actually block changes. Merely reports noncompliant changes.
Your next step will be to plan out segregation of duties, who should and should not be able to change what without a change request
Then, you set up an environment ruleset for each environment for thosechanges
j
thank you @Nicholas Klug
this helps
n
So, reports might be logged in prod, but not in test, etc
Finally, make sure everything is up to date, make sure your spidering is set up correctly, kicking off at the right times, heck even running
I used to do a lot of change management and strongpoint work for a consultancy 🙂 Let me know if you have any particulars you need help with
j
I sure will
thank you!
