It's mostly the same, except •

pageInit

will run slightly after the page finishes loading, so users may visibly see the field change/populate • the Client Script only runs in the UI while the UE would populate the field no matter how the record gets loaded (e.g. for other scripts) • the UE can run with elevated permissions if necessary
