For a customer payment, is it possible to programmatically set the `Payment #` . It's `tranid` in the record. It doesn't seem to work for me but people at work are alluding to it being possible. Is this field autogenerated only?

generally the account has to be setup to allow it

yeah, Setup -&gt; Company -&gt; Auto generated number needs to be explicitly set to allow custom inserts
