Is it possible to prevent deletion of a record through the client script? I tried using the action to at least get the actions available but nothing comes up

I don't believe it's possible via client script. Use a beforeSubmit User Event Script and throw an error. Either check

context.UserEventType.DELETE

, or use context filtering in the deployment (new 2019.2 feature).
