Has anyone worked with the sftp module and generating password Guids to create connections? I'm trying to wrap my head around how this all is intended to work. My initial thought was to generate the guid via a credential field in a suitelet - and store it in a custom record in a password-typed field for later use, but that field type seems to be limited to 15 characters. A guid is much longer than that and storing it in plain text seems like a terrible idea. Barring storing the guid for later use, how would one go about creating sftp connections as part of an automated process?

password field won't really protect your guid string
if you want to store it, just save it in a hidden field
on a custom record that you control access to with permissions
i personally just store it in a script parameter field on the script that uses it
if someone can modify the script where the password guid is used, they can access the guid

I've used this tutorial successfully for sftp: https://ursuscode.com/netsuite-tips/suitescript-2-0-sftp-tool/

Thanks for the responses. I'll take a look at that tutorial. I've been hesitant to put the Guid in a script parameter, but maybe it's more secure than I'm giving it credit for given the nature of the Guid itself?
b
the guid protects the value of the credential
and controls which script/user can use it
there is no protection for the value of the guid beyond what you choose for it
and that is generally limited to whatever protection you give to the script

fair enough
