Hello all - What is best practice here? We want to be able to see groupings of classes on our income statement, but do not want employees to be able to post to the parent class. If I make a class the parent, and then inactivate that parent so employees cannot post to it, I cannot select that parent class on my IS to view the total of all sub classes, I still have to individually select the subclasses under that parent. So is it best practice to even use Parent/Child relationships for classes, or just to distinguish the information in the name of the class and show how to filter the data accordingly on the IS?

Quickest way would be to create a saved search that would show whenever the parent classes are used. It could send an email to certain users so they know that they need to adjust i. Another option would be to prevent users posting with the parent class by script.
