Otherwise, you can specify the exact roles that should have access to this particular Custom Record ... but that's a different setting on the Custom Record's configuration

How would I then restrict this role to only have permission on this one type of Custom Record?

use a permission list for the custom record

Hmmm I didn't really want to mess with the way the Custom Record is set up....guess I will have to.

I was thrown off by this: "only users logging in with a role with permission granted to the custom record type can access it"

which is false, it should be "only users logging in with a role with permission granted to Custom Record Entries can access it"
