I only found out because I had to plug a security hole discovered one weekend with an emergency Map/Reduce script. I was returning a Folder search form the getInputData stage, and got back too much raw data. I was able to reduce the columns and add some filters to get it under the limit, but that was the first I knew such a limit existed.
