@Nik I didn't even know a linkedin group existed? Is the official NS forum still active? I haven't logged in for many months

There are few SuiteScript questions now
That's the SS2 forum

@stalbert Haven't logged in either. Don't even remember it. Lol. Ever since I joined this, which is only 7 months again, never logged in anywhere else. Shoutout to our Slack Group.

I have to admit, one benefit of the old forum is you can search it. Even though the search was poor it went back until the start of time. Unlike Slack here - I can never seem to use it as a knowledge repository - it feels useful only as a real-time Q&A session.
I don't see any reason a tool like Slack can't be equally good as a 'forum' as well as instant messaging chat room.

I agree about the searching this Slack, it can be quite annoying when you remember seeing a solution to something but have no way to retrieve it without asking again and then saving away.

that combined with the fact that the 'free' version has a history limit makes search here rather useless in my experience.

I think we would all have a better experience if this Slack account was closed and everyone used Stackoverflow or a dedicated Stack Exchange instead, although the Slack account does have some value
Slack is inferior to SO/SE for how we use it, it just happens to be where the most people are
Slack is good for temporal issues, e.g. "is NS slow for you". So I'm happy to use it for that.
It's bad for "How do I determine the item type from the item id" and we would be better off using SO/SE for questions like that

I still feel it's okay. This just doesn't serves a our knowledge base. I remember someone earlier mentioning some other similar free version of some software and switching over to that. I up-voted it. So far, we all here think it's okay to go about things again and again so, we have been doing that. Probably slack should offer/sponsor our free account. 🧌

A solution would be for each questioner to enter their question on SO and post the link here to attract attention. Then the question could be discussed here if necessary but answered on SO to make SO the knowledgebase.

StackOverflow is too overcrowded imho. If we could have a private dedicated site on stack exchange that would be much better. However, there is value in both IM type communication AND forum type features - I want both in one form or another.
