Damn, dude that is awesome, I never seen code like that,
c
you dont want to
s
@creece Cerner, eh? They have been making news in our area, at my wife's former employer, but not in a good way: https://hitconsultant.net/2019/03/20/glen-falls-hospital-settlement-cerner-billing-problems/
c
Interesting.. i wonder if this is the same bug i was on where even though insurance would cover it, the billing system coded wrong so hospitals were losing like 100k/day
it was around that time
well it existed slightly before but no telling when they fixed it
s
They were definitely hemorrhaging money while the bug existed, and it lasted for at least half a year, possibly longer
c
does not surprise me
you have like 12k people working there
like 10% know whats up
its like the apple of the healthcare IT world yet they can't retain anyone
s
I think the hospital switched from Epic Systems which was more expensive (though the billing worked) to Cerner to save money. They also laid off all internal IT people and outsourced those functions to Cerner
It unfortunately happened at the worst possible time.
c
yeah it sounds like a mess for sure
its a multi billion dollar company they can afford the 38mil lol
s
well, hopefully the hospital recovers. They are one of the major employers in the area, and also the only nearby hospital for a large portion of the Adirondacks.
