I am trying to implement a script that notifies an external service of changes to certain entity fields (Vendor fields, for example). It has to have the ability to secure login tokens/credentials to authenticate and post against some external endpoint. I assume it is a security issue to just have static credentials sitting in a function thats triggered on save, so I tried to find out how that’s supposed to be done. After doing some digging, the method described in this blogpost looks promising but seems a bit indirect (and I’m not sure about some steps). Am I on the right track here?
