is formula (text) field now incompatible with the summary type “group” in a saved search? I am getting an error message

Does your formula contain a long text field? I’ve noticed long text fields are not supported by group. Not sure if that is new or not but I just noticed it recently

It's caused by a custom list/record field. Can't even group it by itself without using formula text
