Is there anyway to tell the Sitemap Generator to include the

lastmod

date in the sitemap index file for the individual sitemap file? When Google is reading the sitemap index it is not picking up the newly generated sitemap and this is the 3rd week now that our sitemaps are generated but not being picked up by google.
