Posting this here also: Sanity check: For a discount item, if I have the "Apply Before Sales Tax" unchecked, the logic is that the total is calculated with tax first, then the discount is subtracted.  Example $127.94 is the total with tax, and after a $10 discount apply, the new total will be $117.94.

Am I thinking correctly?  For some reason, no matter what, this check box does not affect my calculation in NS at all.  Am I using the discounts correctly?

Nvm. I was using a box that was applying the discount incorrectly. The new Discount item has to be applied as a line item for it to calculate correctly.
