@Randy if you are using currentrecord then you must be using this in a client script. There is 2 methods for disabling a field. One Is the one you are doing which I use quite often to disable fields. The other is the updateDisplayType which is used from the serverWidget module in server scripts. Anyway of showing your full code?

I just discovered of the serverWidget module so I think that would work. I also was doing more testing and my isDisabled property is now populated. I'm not sure what was going on earlier but it seems to exist now.
