SYSDATE is the current date hence something in the past will be represented by subtracting it from SYSDATE whilst something in the future so “weeksfromnow” would be calculated by adding to SYSDATE. SYSDATE allows you the flexibility of referencing the current date and calculating date/time periods based on either subtracting (for dates in the past) or adding (for dates in the future).
