Ouch, renewal will cost us around 14% more... The new licence cost being the main culprit... And we lost the free Sandbox, one paid remaining What's your experience with a single Sandbox environment?

It's mostly fine, just exacerbates existing problems with sandboxes. Be sure there's a place for folks who are using it to communicate so they're not running into each other when doing development/testing. And give plenty of lead time and extra chances to object when doing a sandbox refresh. Inevitably you'll wipe something somewhat important because someone forgot, but if you gave lots of warnings, then at least your hands are clean (or you did it to yourself 😆 ).

Yep, nowadays we have a two-week notice for a sandbox refresh. Even then... the last run we had some specific user asking for a delay... one hour after the scheduled refresh was activated.

Out of curiosity, what problems do you encounter. In my case: 1. No way to do a partial or incremental refresh 2. No way to do a Sandbox > Production copy of selected elements (Copy to Account exists, but is not very helpful in most cases) 3. Slow copy (24 hours minimum to get a copy, sometimes longer) 4. Except Administrator, other access are not correctly inherited when you select it (they have the access, but not really... You need to remove and grant again)

1 - Yes, but I'd have a problem in the other direction (missing stuff I didn't realize I needed) if they allowed me a partial refresh, so probably better than I can't do that. 2 - Yeah, agreed. I've tried to pick up SDF a few times to address this and #1, but I don't need it enough to really stick with it and invest the 100s of hours it'd take for me to get really familiar with it. 3 - This is fine for me, as I almost always have advanced notice. Depending upon the situation, you can shift the timeframe by just starting the refresh earlier and holding on the actual activation of the refresh. 4 - I definitely have this with release preview accounts. I have a saved search just for this to do the import for everyone. Always works fine for actual sandbox accounts for me though.
I've kind of gotten used to it. My issues are mostly the mundane ones of my own making. Admins doing different testing/development in the same area, people not remembering that they have development they need to move, having to re-setup all the tokens and SAML after refresh
