Corect, you want to bill half of the lines so for a line with a quantity of two you want the first invoice to be for one. If so you'd have to create a billing scheduled first, Then create the sales order and link the billing schedule to the order. Once the order is created, if you were to click the Next Bill on the sales order it should create an invoice with the parameters of your schedule.
