@cja In order to have a functional Custom Record with a sublist you need 2 custom records... one field from one of those records would be list record type and select the other record and with the checkbox record is parent selected. You also need allow child record Edit on the parent Custom Record. Then you would be able to just do a record create and set values to the sublist...
