it's not a supported suitescript record, but I figured if I created a saved search, it should work

Not all saved searches can be loaded and run via SuiteScript. Have you tried checking if the Search Export Chrome Plugin? It it can't export the search then you can't probably load it via SuiteScript

that's the first I've heard that statement. I don't think I've ever run into a case where I couldn't script a search that was done in the UI. Then again, maybe K

This usually happens for the uncommon saved searches like what @screnshaw is trying to do. I usually discover that if the record is not supported in Suitescript, you won't be able to use a saved search for that record in Suitescript.

@rustyshackles lameness. That stinks that they'd lock it down if you're loading a saved search.
