For all my manufacturing folks: We currently do not use Demand Planning/Supply Planning but we do have the modules in our environment. Supply team is wanting to start using it and I had a few questions: • All our assembly items are outsource manufactured, I can't seem to find any information on this but we would need to generate a PO not a WO for assembly items and the PO should automatically generate a WO to be attached • One of our supply guys said that his prior company had everything automated - he did not use the "order items" page, the POs were just automatically generated for them in the system (now talking about inventory items) ◦ I can't seem to find anything that says how to set this up. Everything I've read or videos show the Order Items page and that you select the POs you want to generate. Does anyone have experience or know how we can automatically generate through supply planning? • If anyone has any guides, documents, videos, websites that give more information or detail on this would greatly appreciate it! I've dug through reddit and the oracle documents as well

SuiteAnswers will be your best tool. I'd recommend looking into the Planning Workbench (SA link) as it's a much better tool for the supply side of things than the old Supply Planning - also Advanced BOMs are required for outsourced MFG, so the workbench/MRP can be used also. For Outsourced Manufacturing (SA Link), you'll need to create one of the POs or the WOs through supply generation... I can't remember which way the automation runs to create the other document since it's been a minute If someone was telling you the whole thing was automated, then they were using a custom script.

@Rich Keller Thanks for this! We've been on NS for about 3 years now so we have all our our Advanced BOMs and assembly items all built. Everything is just a really manual process right now and all our planning is done in excel so wanting to bring that into NetSuite since we have the modules to use. I know how outsource manufacturing works in NetSuite, but more curios on how it works hand in hand with the demand/supply planning module itself. Right now we create the PO that automatically creates the WO based off the PO lines. Wondering how that all works when it's being created through the supply planning module instead, especially since online it mostly talks about it generating a WO for an assembly item

If I recall correctly... You're going to generate the Work Order via MRP because that needs to be complete to have the inventory to fulfill the demand then the POs get generated from there. It's been a while since I've looked at it, so I can't recall if they generate in a nightly batch aggregating the amounts by location and vendor. That might be part of the OSM help. They may have made enhancements since I last used it also.

If you have supply planning you have MRP, it's the same as the Planning Workbench
