Dumb question as I never use Mass Update Script type - If there is an existing Mass Update script with a Deployment that is sitting there "Released" say 2 years ago, is it safe to say it's not executing?

Mass updates are triggered by going to Lists > Mass Updates > Mass Update and selecting the custom mass update, selecting the criteria and running it. So in short a user has to run it.
Im sure there is a way to see the last time it was used.
Oops i was wrong. They can be scheduled

ok. I see "Custom Mass Updates" under LISTS > MASS UPDATES.. the "Actions" list. Then under "Saved Mass Updates" I see a last run on = a few years ago. - now I see the value. lol also the danger to leave it there is it was a 1x event or has outdated logic.

Most mass-update scripts I've seen have been intended as 1x event.
