What type of item can be used to create an outsourced manufacturing PO? Is it restricted to other-charge for purchase or can we have other-charge for resale as well?

What other info do you have, will it have a balance on your books ever, either by receiving it for QA, or a return if defective?
Resale would be best, if you need it to be in your inventory/books before sale. Purchase would be closer to dropship only.

@G within your BOM, you need an Item For Purchase to be the outstource manufacturing charge. I've used Service for Purchase in the past for this. It does need to be Other Charge for Purchase or Service for Purchase. See https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_157833855885.html#Creating-an-Outsourced-Manufacturing-Item

thanks both, @AK47, that's what we have been using but problem is with direct posting for the assembly item, as soon as the assembly item has direct posting ticked, based the BOM revision associated with the BOM, if we have an order than has both an inventory item and assembly item, with the other charge or service for purchase, we would run into the cannot have direct and non direct revenue posting and it would error hence because you cannot ticked the revenue recognition for other charge or service for purchase, tried to change to other charge for resale item as that solves the direct/indirect but subsequently these don't appear on the PO for outsourcing manufacturing?

sorry, I'm not familiar with that issue. I know to do outsource manufacturing, the item in the BOM has to be Service for Purchase or Other Charge for Purchase. Not resale.

@G do you want to show it today?
