What's the rule on customers with Soft Optout for marketing campaigns? We want to send out account upgrade notice so technically it's not really marketing info. However, it seems customers with their Global Status (Soft Optout) gets excluded from the Marketing Campaign. Would it be a GDPR violation if I was to explicitly make these Soft Opt In?

Isn't there an "opt-out override" checkbox on the bulk merge where you have to fill in an override reason? This is what I typically use when I send out stuff like that that needs to go to everyone regardless and then I put in like "critical update notification" or something in the required reason box. I think the argument that "every user potentially needs this communication" is a lot clearer and easier to justify that a change between soft opt-in/out, but I'm still mostly US, so consult your own legal/audit GDPR advisor.

Yeah, so that's what my intention was - to Opt In those that have the Opt Out status via an import and then put those who were opted out initially back to being opted out.

The checkbox is just a one-time exception thing so you don’t have to change it and then revert it. I’d check that out.

Oh really, didn't know that.
