Hello i have question on logistic, specifically bins. I have an item with quantity 5 in a RMA bin that should no be picked, but our picking bins do not have any in stock . But on Netsuite sales order, it shows that item have available 5. Is there a way around this?
t
Create a new RMA location and do a inventory transfer to the new location. That will take it out of stock in the location in which you fulfill orders. Assuming there is only one location you fulfill orders from.
k
Gotcha, thank you for the answer. Another separate question is there a better way to separate pickable bin to non pickable bins on Netsuite instead of naming scheme?
t
Do you pick using preferred bins?
k
yes
t
I'm assuming the pallet bins are overstock?
k
pallet bins over stock as in? pickable bins under stock?
t
You pick from the preferred bins and the "pallet bins" are extra stock
k
gotcha, what if preferred bin runs out?
and we did not load the pallet bin physically into preferred bins yet
t
You can use the best bin picking logic ( not sure what WMS you use ) which should look at preferred bin first, and if there is not enough quantity take the picker to the pallet bins.
k
Gotcha
thank you
is there a way for me to set prefer bin on Netsuite ?
Or does that have to come from WMS?
t
Yes! It comes from NetSuite. If you go the the item record in edit mode, click bin numbers. Chose the location, bin number and click the preferred check box
You can do this with a CSV import which would be way faster than opening each item record.
k
Interesting, I do not see that on mine
t
Make sure you are in the right tab. Mine is under the purchasing/inventory tab
k
Interesting, ours seems to be empty
For the bins
t
Yah, it'll show empty until you add the preferred bins. Inventory Detail tab will tell you what bins the product is in.
The bins tab is just for setting preferred bins.

goctah
gotcha
This also means if this prefer bin is under certain amount, can I somehow email or notify the warehouse team?
Would a workflow work?
t
Yes, you could create a saved search for that with hardcoded field of what the minimum amount would be in the preferred bin. However, some WMS's such as RF-Smart have Bin Replenishment functions that you can set up which would do the same thing.
k
gotcha okay
thank you for the informations, it helped greatly
t
Feel free to DM me with any questions, I'm more than happy to help.

@Tim Chapman Sorry to bother you again but I noticed that our on available quantity is more than on hand quantity? I'm trying to figure out why?
t
Is this a sales order?
k
yes
t
Take a look at one of those item records of one of the items shown, do the available and on hand match?
k
I looked at one items that has more available than on-hand, but same available and on hand on inventory detail of the item
t
And available is > than on hand?
k
Available = on hand in item's inventory detail Available > on hand in sales order
