Does an update to a custom record via SDF replace the existing records for that custom record?

If you include record instances in the xml and those instances have specific scriptids that already exist in the target account.
But it will not touch/delete other records instances.

Unless you are deploying a suiteapp, then there are settings for this behavior. It appears this functionality is only available for SuiteApps or?  Would anyone know whether you can control the behaviour for how instances are applied in target account using regular ACP (account customization project)?
