What's the easiest way to get the name of the current period in a portlet? Thinking about running a transaction search for today's date and only returning the accounting period name. Is there a better way? I'm drawing a blank on an alternative.

you could do an accounting period search, filtering to the period that contains today's date.

I didn't see a criteria/filter field to make that possible. Somethign like just a "date" field to enter today's date. What criteria should i use?

I'm thinking SuiteQL query.
