hi all, In SuiteTax do we really need to use Tax Item Types? Can we set Tax Item Type to null in the item records, then customise the VAT Return reports under Setup > Tax Reporting > Tax Returns and where Tax Item Type has been used, set it to -None-? What are the implications?

In theory you should be able to do what you're saying, but like anything with SuiteTax you would need to test it.

@AK here's what NetSuite support says: Changes in VAT return set up will change how the look up of transaction for your VAT returns. You can set the Tax Item type to null but it will cause issue on tax look up on your transaction.
