Im curious - what does everyone here use the native field "Class" for in their operations?
k
sure. it is a revenue type usually
r
Standard is to classify revenue.
Department is typically used to classify an expense.
k
We have one partner that uses it to better organize their different types of products, and another uses it in place of vendors.

Different types of products is fine, in my opinion. Using it in place of vendors.....sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
r
That is absolutely a train wreck waiting to happen and outside of intended use. That could have ramifications for expansion of their NetSuite or business functions into other partner systems. Types of products is a normal way to classify revenue.

Yes I’ve seen types of products or even types of orders be very successful (ie Retail, Wholesale, DTC, Ecomemrce, Warranty, Returns, etc) Usually I try to use class for order type and make a custom segment for item category or item type
g
Yeah I use it to better classify items. its useful that way when making reports or saved searches, cause you can bundle a specific "Class" together. like if you had 3 different types of phones, under class would be Apple, Google, Android .... something like that.
n
I see it mostly used as a product category.
