Hi, our sales order team is encountering an error while placing an order. After investigating the issue, I found that the income account of the item is assigned to the US dollar currency, but the customer belongs to the Canada subsidiary with CAD currency. To fix this error, we need to create a new GL account and a new item. Unfortunately, modifying the income account on the item will affect all existing transactions and require us to reopen the accounting period, which is not feasible. Therefore, the only solution is to set them up again. Please advise me if there is any other approach. Thanks in advance.

did you try the deletion of the currency from the account?
n
I didn’t allow me to change or remove the currency from the account.
The currency field is greyed out.
Click on the currency on your account and set blank in the id

ok, thank you.

If it’s not possible to remove the currency Maybe try change the account number (add old ) and create a same account without currency Then merge the old account with the new Test it in sandbox

I tried to remove the currency using advanced field help, but didn’t work. I will merge it with new account and test it in SB, as you suggested. Thank you for your quick response on this.

it is not possible to delete currency on account once transactions are posted. Cannot merge them either because of the currency thingy alternative - create new account without any currency and inactivate the old one

Under accounting>management preferences, there is a selection to allow to change gl account on items only going forward (not affecting close periods), click on that preference, save. Fix the item(s) you need and voila. You can always go back and uncheck to prevent this from being done without intent. For back periods you can always fix back end with a single je just to clean whatever transactions are need it :)
