#C29J1BPM3 #C29HMKBGC Is there a way to filter a custom field by the "current record". In the sourcing & filtering subtab you select a Source List and Source Filter by, however my source list needs to be "current record". I just want to filter the the available list values by another field on the current record. Thanks
d
did you resolve this? I'm presuming the setup is: A custom field of type list/record You want to filter this field to only display records that have a field with the same value as another field on the current record (e.g. subsidiary, location, department, etc) LMK if you're still having the issue. This is definitely doable and a standard setup

Hi @David B thanks for the help. I have not resolved this yet. I have a custom field on my sales transactions that is a list/record field. it references a custom record i built. The custom record has 2 fields on it....name and transaction type. I want to filter the transaction body field to only show the custom record values where the transaction type = the transaction type of the current record. So for example if editing a Sales order, filter the list values to only ones where the transaction type is Sales order. Is this possible?

Example (my custom record is called "FlimFlam" custom record field for transaction type:
custom record instances:
custom body field with sourcing to filter for FlimFlams where the FlimFlam's transaction type matches the type of the current transaction
what you see in the select field on an invoice and sales order (only FlimFlams that match)

Thanks @David B interesting, I've always used the Filter Using sublist at the bottom for this...i thought the Source Filter By was only used when sourcing field values (which i didn't want to do), but didn't realize you could use it as just a filter as well
@David B what about two custom records? Let's say you have your FlimFlam record and instead of adding transaction type as the list/record you just use Record type as the list. I can't see how to replicate what you are showing between 2 custom records insead of a custom record and transaction
oh actually @David B I'm stupid.....Just hardcode it to the record type I need...duh In the filters just say Filter by record type = [choose correct record type from list] LOL sorry
d
Lol, all good. Sounds like you've got it all figured. Happy holidays 👋
