Is there a way, using the

overwriting.xml

file, to

PRESERVE

a Center Tab? (The target customer wants to be able to set permissions, etc and retain those changes during SuiteApp updates). The HELP doc says on script deployments, custom records and custom lists are valid types in the

overwriting.xml

file.

if you don't use the overwriting then the default is PRESERVE? its only an exception to PRESERVE when you have overwriting turned on already

unless you've already set the your center tab custtab_ ... to be included in the overwrite then it effectively already is being PRESERVED

yeah so looks like tabs aren't an option there anyway. Have they done this already and your app overwrote their changes? or are they just anticipating? Could they create their own Center Tab and build it using your app objects? but it wouldn't be part of your app so wouldn't get updates?

can you potentially just remove the tab from the objects folder? I use an Objects - Not Deployed folder which is a sibling to Objects and I drag stuff down there when I want to skip deploying it... not gonna help if you've actually updated your tab and need to deploy it though

but that's a little manual and tedious for you but I don't know what scale your operating at and if its worth it for one client?
